Do you remember the days when we had to choose between wearing a functional one-piece or a cute bikini that required lots of special attention? Those days are disappearing. Now, with the rise of adventurous entrepreneurial waterwomen, sporty chic surf wear is becoming more and more common, but not all surf wear is created equal. Good thing the Zealous Clothing Surfbikini showed up.
Zealous Clothing is a surf and street wear label by German designer and waterwoman Marie-Kristin Krause that combines fashion, functionality, and ethical manufacturing with roots in both Europe and Indonesia. Marie partners with textile workers in Bali and works with them personally to develop good relationships with the local family businesses and make sure that they are treated fairly. It is a rarity in the clothing industry and one of the reasons I appreciate it so much.
The bikinis were also designed by someone who understands firsthand the need for quality surfbikinis. I have long been skeptical of fixed-strap tops, but this meets all my standards and has a comfortable back strap that lets me move freely and doubles as a sports bra. The bottom is also flattering and has a side-tie string to keep it in place.
My Zealous surfbikini has been on all sorts of adventures with me, from surfing to swimming under waterfalls to jumping off catamarans, and it has withstood all the tests. I've also gotten quite a few compliments. Suffice it to say this is now a staple in my beach kit.
Thank you to Zealous Clothing for providing me with a free surfbikini to photograph.
